Nazarenes of The Way
The Keepers of the Law and Testimony as the Heavenly Father and Messiah Commanded to Enter Heaven.
The Father's Elect and The Messiah's One True Faith, Followers and Saints
כמרים של הדרך
Nazóraios tes Hodou (Greek) - Natsraya haDerek (Aramaic) - the Nazarenes of the Way (English)
The Nazarenes of the Way are not be be confused with the Christianized "Church of the Nazarene", "The Way" or "The Way International" cults. The Nazarenes of the Way keep the Torah of the heavenly Father and Testimony of the Messiah as THE Nazarene Himself taught His Apostles and disciples almost 2000 years ago and are identified as the Saints in the New Testament and Book of Revelation.
The followers of the Messiah were called "Nazarenes" - Why? Were they ALL from Nazareth? Of course not. The Messiah is documented in the bible to have been to over 20 locations (see here) and arguably far more in India (see here) where He acquired many disciples and followers. Even Paul was claimed to be the ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes (Acts 24:5) though he was from Tarsus (Acts 21:39). So why then call them ALL Nazarenes? This is why knowledge of linguistics of the Hebrew language is so important and understanding the Hebrew root word "Natsar" applied to the Aramaic name of "Natsraya" comes from (see Linguistics). Natsraya ("Nazarenes") meant Watchmen (i.e., guardians, keepers, watchers) of "the Way" meaning they kept the Torah and Testimony of the Messiah - "The Nazarene Code" - the very 2 criteria required to become God's saints in the Kingdom of Heaven identified in the Revelation of the Messiah (See Home Page). Once you know the truth it not only ties in perfectly, it makes perfect sense. It also proves that Christianity is a false religion because though it may give testimony to the Messiah (and sometimes not even that (see here) but it rejects the Torah completely which has dire consequences - rejection by the Messiah Himself on Judgment Day (Matthew 7:21-23). Don't confuse Christianized "Nazarenes" and "the Way" religions with the practice of the original Nazarenes of the Way.
Natsraya is the transliteration of the original Aramaic name of "Nazarenes" which comes from Natsar meaning Guard, Keep, Watch [H5341]. There is no "Z" in the Hebrew or Aramaic language, therefore "TS" is the most appropriate sound for the letter "Tsade" thus giving the more phonetically appropriate "Natsraya".
נצריא from the root word נצר (Ar. nätsär, Hb. nëtsër) n-ts-r from the key letter צ tsade.
Natsraya is a plural term1 to describe an inclusive group of Natsari people. A single male is called a Natsari, and a single female a Natsrati. A group of Natsari women are called Natsrayn. A group of Natsari men are called Natsraya.
The Way ( "Derek" - Hebrew: http://biblehub.com/hebrew/1870.htm )
Prophesied in the Old Testament
"And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it." Isaiah 35:8
The Way of God
"All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus' words, acknowledged that God's way was right, because they had been baptized by John". Luke 7:29
"This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things about Jesus, knowing only the baptism of John. Acts 18:25
"Some of them were hardened and were disputing and reviling the Way of God before the assembly of the Gentiles; then Paulus left and he separated the disciples from them and was speaking every day with them in the school of a man whose name was Turanos." Acts 19:9
"But there was a great commotion at that time about the Way of God." Acts 19:23
Followers of the Sect of the Messiah
"...and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem." Acts 9:2
"And I persecuted the followers of the Way, hounding some to death, arresting both men and women and throwing them in prison." Acts 22:4
"But this I admit to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect I do serve the God of our fathers, believing everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets;" Acts 24:14
"Then Felix, who was well acquainted with the Way, adjourned the proceedings. "When Lysias the commander comes," he said, "I will decide your case." Acts 24:22
The Messiah Identifies the Way to Eternal Life
Yeshua said to him, “I AM THE LIVING GOD, The Way and The Truth and The Life; no man comes to my Father but by me alone.” John 14:6
Therefore, the Natsraya (Nazarenes) are the Keepers of the Way (the Sect) - those which Keep the Commandments (the Torah) of the Father and Testimony of the Messiah. These are the true Saints who will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
“This I did also in Jerusalem, and I cast many Saints into prison by the authority I received from
The Chief Priests, and as they were being killed by them, I took part with those who condemned them.”
These saints were NOT Christians – they did not exist at this time. Christians
did not evolve until AFTER the Pharisee Sha’ul (“Paul”) began his
heretical ministry and their name was not created and inserted into the bible as we know it today. The fact is that the
name "Christians" was NOT to be found in the earliest known New
"Christians" Not Found in the Earliest New Testaments
Most assume that the name and religion of Christians originated in New Testament times. That Christians are recorded as having thrived in the first century as recorded by certain historians, thus the references to "first-century Christians". However, there is no historical or scriptural trace of Christians or Christianity either in the New Testament or the first century, in name or religion. The evidence shows that Christians arose no earlier than the second century as an anti-Jewish movement that broke away from the Natsraya (Nazarenes).
The Manuscript EvidenceBoth the New Testament and secular histories had their texts altered to create the impression that Christians / Christianity had a legitimate beginning. In Christian bible translations, Christian appears in three places; Acts 11:26, Acts 26:28, and 1 Peter 4:16. The oldest known Greek manuscript of the New Testament is the Sinaiticus, the second oldest is the Vaticanus. Neither of these texts contain the Greek term Christian. However, copies made after these replace the original Greek term XPHCTIAN (CHRESTIAN) with XPICTIAN (CHRISTIAN).
The earliest extant Greek New Testament to explicitly contain the name "Christian" is the Codex Alexandrinus dated ca. 450 c.e. This is just far too late for "Christian" to begin appearing in manuscripts if it were the original term given to followers of the Nazarene Messiah. The appearance of "Christian" in the Greek text is clearly an anachronism which has been paraded as supporting evidence for the Christian name and faith, both of which are counterfeit. In fact, some lineages of Greek manuscripts (Minuscule 81) were still faithfully copying Chrestian up until 1044 c.e. If you think they mean one and the same thing, they don't (See here and here).
Chrestian vs. Christian
Chrestian has no apparent relation to the word Christian although they coincidently appear and sound similar, so much so that during the second century there was some confusion between the terms. Chrestian comes from the Greek chrestos having the meaning; good manners or morals, pleasant, better, useful, beneficial, kind, gracious. Christos on the other hand means to be anointed. These are scans from 'The New Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible'. Although the Greek in the manuscripts appears in upper case, the concordance displays these terms in lower case, but the similarities in appearance can still be observed.
literal translation of Christians
is "anointed men" or
"anointlings". This is far removed from the general meaning of Chrestians which is
"good men". Christians are fond of saying that Christian
means "follower of Christ", as perhaps it
should. That is a platitudinal definition, and it may be the literal
one as found in Strong's Concordance, but it isn't the
one practiced by Christians. In practical terms, a Christian is one who
practices Christianity, just as a Jew practices Judaism, and a Hindu,
It's an inconvenient truth for billions around the world - but the truth nonetheless. What does this tell us? Many things. First and foremost - people worldwide have been lied to and deceived for centuries. Christians as a name did not appear for some 400 to possibly 1000 years after what we've been led to believe reading the bibles we have today. Therefore most, if not all, references made to "Christians" of the early church were in fact meant for the "Nazarenes".
Another obvious fact is that Adventists, Baptists, Catholics, Christians, Episcopalians, Jehovah Witnesses, Pentecostals, Protestants, Methodists, Mormons, etc., in essence ALL Christian religions are nowhere to be found in original scripture. None. It's a FACT no matter how your pastor, priest, reverend or whatever they call themselves try to spin it. You simply won't find any scripture whatsoever where the Messiah or any of His apostles or disciples named by any of the above fabricated names. They are ALL man-made and created by Gentiles of whom the Messiah warns:
"These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles,
and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:" Matthew 10:5
Simple test - look up your "faith" or "religion" in Wikipedia - is the founder God the Father, the Messiah or some man?
If there is an image/photo of some western gentile, it's obviously man-made, counterfeit and undoubtedly setup with an organizational structure that practices nonbiblical doctrines. This should not offend you but rather, make you realize you are not practicing the faith the Son of God taught His disciples. Quite simply, if it's not found in the Original Bible - it's counterfeit, fabricated and man-made. It's amazing how many individuals claim to "live by the Word of God" and it's the last thing they do - instead choosing to follow some man-made religion and keep their pagan, nonbiblical doctrines. STICK TO THE WORD OF THE FATHER AND MESSIAH IN ORIGINAL SCRIPTURE FOR ANSWERS AND FAITH YOU SHOULD FOLLOW - IT'S THE "BIG SECRET" THAT VERY FEW FIGURE OUT OR WILLING TO ACCEPT.
The One True Faith & Sect of the Messiah
Having established that "Christians" are not found in the two earliest known Greek NT bibles, we are left with one sect that is clearly identified in scripture - and they followed the DIRECT instruction of the Messiah the Natsari ("Nazarene") to enter the kingdom of heaven - they were in fact the "Nazarenes" - more correctly, Natsraya who followed "The Way" which is translated as "Doctrine" in English in the the "Aramaic Bible in Plain English" and in Greek, Hodos. The Nazarene Code is in fact, "The Way-Doctrine-Hodos which means keeping the Law of the Creator Father (Law) and giving Testimony of THE Messiah-Natsari-Son of God Himself. I am very proud to say I am a Natsari who follows The Way/Doctrine/Hodos when asked the faith I keep. The original Natsraya faith has absolutely NO association, connection or relationship with "The Way International" nor the Christianized "Nazarenes".
Nazarenes are THE Saints of the Bible
This fact implies that the name "Christians" was insidiously inserted some 400 years - possibly almost 1000 years AFTER the final chapter - the Revelation of Jesus Christ - was written in order to give them credibility and historical legitimacy. So the saints COULD NOT have been Christians. The saints were the ORIGINAL Nazarenes who were called Natsraya - the transliterated Aramaic name for "Nazarene(s)" (see Linguistics) which are NOT to be confused with the modern-day Christianized "Nazarene movement" that DO NOT keep the Torah. Natsraya means God's Watchmen who keep, guard the Torah and Testimony of the Messiah. As you will discover, IT COULD ONLY BE THE NATSRAYA - AND NOT CHRISTIANS from the 1st century whose formation began in Northern Palestine.
The implication behind this is that not a single one of the canonized or recognized "saints" of Roman Catholicism is a true Saint that practiced Lawlessness (non Torah) violating the Word of God as claimed by the Messiah Himself.
Besides the OT prophets and keepers of the Father's Torah (the original 12 tribes of Yisrael who had not yet known the Messiah, it will ONLY BE those whose faith is identical or similar to the ORIGINAL Natsraya who will become Saints in the kingdom of heaven. If you do not believe this read further for the conclusive evidence that will prove this beyond any doubt.
The Messiah WAS NOT the founder of Christianity - Sha'ul (Paul) was which does NOT keep the God's Law. The Son of God founded the Natsraya movement whose premise is based on 2 key elements: Keeping the Torah and the Testimony of the Messiah. No other faith or religion is associated to the instruction of the Messiah in the bible.
The term "Nazarene" hereinafter refers solely to the original and modern day Natsraya who keep the Torah of the Father and Testimony of the Messiah.
Taught Directly by the Messiah
Natsraya ("Nazarenes") practiced their faith precisely as the Messiah commanded His 12 Apostles to teach: They keep the law (Torah) and have faith in Him as Son of the living God.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20-21
From the words of the Apostle John:
19"We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 20And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life." 1 John 5:19
That understanding as He commanded is to Keep the Law of the Father AND Testimony that the Messiah is the Son of God for Eternal Life. This is what distinguished them from those that only kept the Torah.
Natsraya are a faith - not a religion (which is not to be found in the bible). Natsraya are not to be confused with the Christianized, organized, hierarchal Nazarenes of today that believe you are saved by faith alone. All Natsraya are equal brethren - There is no hierarchy, no organization and no priest that one should call "father" (pope is papa meaning father), master, pastor, reverend or rabbi:
8"But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9"Do not call anyone on earth your
father (i.e., papa=pope); for One is your Father, He who is in heaven". Matthew 23:8-9
ONLY the Messiah is our Teacher-Rabbi and ONLY our Creator in heaven is to be called Father. I never knew of this scripture or having been told about it growing up, so I was unwittingly calling priests "Father Michael", "Padre Luis", etc. not too many years back. No more. Recently I sent an email to a "rabbi" of a Messianic congregation in Latin America regarding the nature of the "Godhead" and had addressed him as "hermano" meaning brother. He replied pointing out I should address him as "rabbi". I responded and respectfully corrected him by providing the above scripture - he never replied afterwards.
I know of no congregation or assembly who honors this scripture from the Messiah and is without hierarchical organization so I refuse to attend them and submit to their heresies and teaching false doctrines and false gospels. I'm perfectly fine chatting with like-minded individuals on a one-to-one basis because I know the Messiah is in our presence:
"For where two or three are assembled in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20
Nazarenes are NOT "early Christians"
Natsraya ("Nazarenes") were no more “early Christians” then they were “Messianic Jews”. Put quite simply, Christians DO NOT keep the Torah and Jews DO NOT have faith in the divinity of the Messiah which makes the term, "Jewish Christians" ridiculous at best. Calling Nazarenes “early Christians” implies that they were diamonds in the rough – not having practiced Christianity quite right yet. This label is insulting if not blasphemous when you realize Nazarenes were taught DIRECTLY by the Messiah and His Apostles. The latest moniker for those who keep the Torah and have faith in Jesus are now labeled “Messianic Jews” which are those that most closely follow the faith of the Natsraya. However, many insist on calling God "Yah", "Yahweh" (YHWH) or Jehovah which is a grave error. See the page God's Name to see why. Furthermore, the label "Messianics" is mislabeled. Christians, Jews and Muslims are each messianic in nature – each still awaiting the arrival of their messiah. So this label is both misleading and redundant to say the least. I see no need in creating so many different labels for those who practice the faith of keeping the Torah and testimony of the Messiah when they are already named in the bible as Nazarenes – more appropriately, Natsraya (its original transliterated Aramaic name – see “Linguistics”) plain and simple. There is a stubborn reluctance to call people, places or things by their original, transliterated name and instead entirely new names which loses the richness of their original meaning which is oftentimes twisted to praise a false entity. Recall once again what was mentioned in the Forward section of those who carry the name of the Father and the Son on their Forehead (see God's Name).
The Son of God NEVER told His 12 Apostles or disciples to NOT keep the Torah – in fact, He insisted it. ALL the true Apostles taught the Torah to the new converts other than those who already were keeping it (see here for the proof). The ONLY writer in the bible to teach otherwise was Paul though he kept the Sabbath - the perfect example of the hypocrite Pharisees whom the Messiah knew so well (See the overwhelming evidence proving this fact in Lawless Paul) – it was his anti-Torah “gospel” that would ultimately create Christianity as he made his way to Rome. "Messianics" today who continue to defend Paul fail to see the obvious - if he upheld the Torah - which he called a curse - the entire "Christian world" would be keeping it - but they do not. In fact, they abhor it and claim its "Jewish" when in fact, it was handed down to ALL the tribes of Israel - not just one. It will become conclusively obvious that the Father nor the Messiah had a change of mind when it came to the contrary doctrines Sha'ul (Paul) taught to Gentiles as he made his way to Rome.
Below are 2 articles providing the origins and background of the Natsraya ("Nazarene") faith which are God's Branches (see Linguistics) and afterwards scriptural references to "Nazarene", "Nazarenes" and "Nazareth" are provided to illustrate their frequency - a total of 53 - in the New Testament. Upon reading scripture, you will note that Yashaya never refers to Himself as a Jew nor do His followers - He is frequently refered to as the Natsari and His followers as Natsraya - Nazarenes in Aramaic. If you notice as you read the New Testament, note how they always refer to Jews as a very separate sect apart from themselves.
The Natzraya are a 2000 year old sect of Judaism who take their name from that of their founding rabbi, Yeshua Natzraya (ca. 1 b.c.e. - 33 c.e.), whom they believe is the anointed spiritual deliverer of Israel - the Messiah.Yeshua grew up near the north-west shore of the Sea of Galilee, which is alternately called the Genasaret, Kinneret or the Sea of Tiberias. His village was called Natzrat and was located between the plain of Ginosar and Tel Kinrot.
The area around the north-west side of the lake was also called Gen Nasaret, Ginosar, and Kineret alternately. These all refer to the same place located between Magdala to the south, Keper Nahum (Capernaum) to the east, and Hana (Cana) to the west. However the village and synagogue of Natzrat no longer exist. The historical site of Yeshua's home remains overlooked by scholars, archaeologists, and tourists alike.
The modern city of Nazareth (pop. 64,500), which lies further west, is not the original home of Yeshua Natzraya and did not exist in his time. That settlement was created in the 4th century after Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine, arbitrarily declared a scarcely inhabited hill to be Nazareth. A city was then built around the ancient cemetery of the nearby village of Yaffa. Today, as then, the city is a major tourist attraction and destination for Christian pilgrims.
Surnames were often based upon the name of one's village. If you were from Magdala, your were one of the Magdalaya. If from Keper Nahum, you were one of the Nahumaya. Now if you were from Natzrat, you were one of the Natzraya."And he settled in a town called Natzrat so that something the prophets said might be fulfilled,
that he would be called Natzraya." - Matay (Mathew) 2:23
The designation Natzraya became the namesake of His followers regardless of their origin or residence. This term has been translated into English as Nazarenes, in Arabic as Nasara, in Hebrew as Notzrim, and in Greek as Nadzorayon. In different places and dialects the name Natzraya still survives in various forms even after much religious persecution and assimilation over the centuries.
The greater prophetic significance of the name and purpose is not commonly realized. It represents the restoration of the nation of Israel on a spiritual and moral basis. At a time when the nation was more concerned with their immediate temporal and political salvation from the Roman occupation, Yeshua came to address their need for salvation from themselves. He was leading them into the freedom of a kingdom that was within and between them. His way of eliminating their enemies was to love and convert them. Only once this was achieved could a real and stable kingdom exist.
Concerning the name Gen Nasaret, Gen is most often translated as garden or orchard, and natzar means shoot. Today as in the ancient past, the plain of Ginosar is renowned for the fruit of it's orchards and gardens. The concepts of pruning and grafting were well known to it's inhabitants. The largest and oldest olive trees were harvested for wood used in boat making and other carpentry.
Israel is compared to the life cycle of the olive tree by the prophets.
"Then יהוה said to me, A conspiracy has been discovered among the people of Yahuda and the residents of Aerishalem. They have turned back to the heinous crimes of their forefathers who refused to listen to my words, rather they have gone after other gods to serve them. The House of Aeisrayl and the House of Yahuda have both broken my covenant which I made with their forefathers. [...] יהוה called your name the Green Olive Tree, lovely with good fruit. But now with a violent noise He has broken your branches and set them on fire." - Ærämya (Jeremiah) - 11:9-10,16
The Olive tree is well known for it's incredible ability to send up new shoots, even when the tree has been reduced to a mere stump. This gives the Olive tree a kind of immortality not enjoyed by other species.
"And a stem shall come up out of the stump of Yeshay, and a shoot [Heb. netzer] shall grow out of his roots [...] and in that day there shall be a root of Yeshay, which shall stand as an ensign for the people; the nations will look to it, and his resting place shall be wonderful." - Æshåya (Isaiah) 11:1,10
Yeshua chose twelve men symbolic of the twelve tribes of Israel who were broken off the old tree. The old tree and it's stump represent the old covenant God made with Israel, but through Yeshua, the tree, and thus the covenant, is renewed. It is not a new tree, and thus the covenant literally, but the old being renewed. These twelve new branches would bear much fruit. Because not all of the old branches could be re-attached, branches were cut from uncultured and wild olive trees (non-Jews) and grafted onto the renewed tree to fill it out, so that it would bear an abundance of fruit. These scions are not the natural descendants of Israel but from other nationalities and ethnic groups.
"Again I ask: Have they [the branches of Israel] stumbled that they should fall beyond recovery? By no means! But through their fall, they should be become jealous that salvation has come to the nations. Now if their fall means blessings for the nations, consider what great blessing will result from their reinstatement! But now I am speaking to you who are from the nations, as an emissary to serve the nations, that increase my ministry. If by any means I can cause those of my people to become jealous and save some of them. For if their rejection is reconciliation for the world, what will their acceptance be except life from the dead? Now if the first portion of dough is special then the whole lump is also special, and if the root is special so are the branches. Now if some of the branches were broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot have been grafted in among the others and have become a partaker of the root and the richness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. if you do then consider this: You do not support the root, but rather the root supports you! You might reply: But the branches were broken off because of unfaithfulness, yet you have been established by faith. So do not be arrogant fools, but rather, be respectful. For if the Almighty did not spare the natural branches, He certainly will not spare you. Therefore behold the kindness and the harshness of the Almighty. Upon them that fell harshness, but toward you kindness but only if you continue in the same kindness otherwise you too will be broken off. And if they do not want to remain in their defective faith the Almighty is able to raft them back in as partakers. For if you were cut off from the naturally barbaric olive tree and contrary to what is natural you were grafted into the cultivated olive tree, how much more easily will the natural branches be grafted back into their own olive tree?" - Romans 11:11-24
Although commonly referred to as a "sect of Judaism", in light of their true significance, the Natzraya do not consider "sect" to be an appropriate description. They believe that they are the only legitimate Israel with a covenant in good standing. Other sects of Judaism which have broken the covenant are considered to be those branches which were broken off, and therefore are not part of the living tree.
They do not
believe, as most Jewish sects, that ordinary repentance
alone is good enough to restore one's relationship with the Almighty,
noting the fact that some sins can only be purged by blood, and by
that, death. That blood and death being realized in the spending of
Yeshua the innocent to redeem the guilty. By this they understand that
only what then is spiritually born again in character can be considered
innocent and free of corruption, just like the new shoot coming up from

The surname of Yeshua the Mashiha, and of his followers is best represented in English by Natzraya, however over time and through various dialects and languages the name has also been variable written as; Natzaraya, Ntsaraya, Natsraya, Nazarenes, Nazareans, Natsarenes, Nasoreans, Nazoreans, Natzarenes, Notzari, Notzarim, Notzri, Notzrim, Natzari, Natzarim, Natsari, Natsarim, Nadzorean, Nasara, Nasrani, Natzar, Netzer, Netzerim, Netzrim, Netzari, Netzarim, Nitzrim, Natsrim, Netseri, Nadzsorayn, Natzaray, etc. In the Talmud we are referred to as Notzrim and in the Quran as Nasar
נצריא from the root word נצר (Ar. nätzär, Hb. nëtzër) n-tz-r from the key letter צ tzade.
Natzraya is a plural term to describe an inclusive group of Natzari people. A single male is called a Natzar or Natzari, and a single female a Natzrati. A group of exclusive Natzari women are called Natzrayn. An exclusive group of Natzari men are called Natzraya.
Although the name Natzraya may seem foreign to many, it is the surname of Yeshua the Mashiha, and it occurs at least 21 times in the New Testament. However it appears only once or twice in most Christian versions of the New Testament. This is why when Christians are asked, the majority can not recall their saviour's surname, the name of his sect, nor correctly identify his religion.
Christian translators have expunged the name Natzraya
wherever possible by altering or replacing it with neutered terms like
"Nazareth" or "Galilee" that do not legitimize the sect of the same
name. This could be due to the fact that the Natzraya were counted as a
heretical cult by early Christian theologians such as Ignatius and
Epiphanius who rejected the name Natzraya and their beliefs. Epiphanius
treats the people and the name with comtempt when he appears to create
a pun comparing the Natzraya to crickets (also called natzraya) that
should be "squashed".
Another meaning of natzar is to keep, guard, observe, etc. When this meaning is used sometimes the spelling is slightly altered to natar to distinguish the two. In this form, the name also occurs a little more covertly in other places such as Revelation 1:3 where those who keep or guard the words of the prophecy are referred to in the Aramaic text "Natrayan" whom the letter is apparently addressed to.
